Crazy stat about Harrell, heās already made as many shots outside of the paint (4-7) than he did ALL of last season (4-47)
Holy s*** thatās wild lol

Am I the only one surprised by the attempts hes taking ?
Dude is getting AD isos and doing dribble pull ups I didnāt think he did this as a clipper

I was surprised because I donāt think I ever saw him do it as a clipper and if I did, knowing the percentages I definitely wouldnāt want him doing it but heās hitting them so far

I recall he would face up and drive but never remember him shooting mid range jās like this

garbage coaching staff probably told him not to do it

Probably for a reason if he was 4-47

Think Harrell is so explosive and quick, bigs donāt want him to blow past them for a high percentage basket near the rim. So they are giving him space to shoot those mid range jumpers, and now he is hitting them. Another element to his game, people forget players donāt hit their primes until their mid to late 20s. Defenses will adjust if he keeps drilling those jumpers...
Just pray that everybody stays healthy for the post season

i doubt he became a serviceable midrange shooter in one short offseason, he clearly had these skills already. itās about putting your players in the best position to succeed.

It's not like we did anything special to get him his 7 shots so far. They we're almost all just him facing up.

Sounds like itās working.

Clippers probably let him face up and shoot 40 times last season too.

Heās already on pace to attempt more than 3x the attempts he took with the Clippers, so no I donāt believe they wanted him doing it like I first said. You take a playerās confidence away then he might as well have shot 0 for them.

Exactly
I believe Harrell has something personal to prove with how much he got paid and going from the Clippers to the Lakers.
And making midrange shots is the next step in his game.
It's not like he has a history of shooting and the Clippers we're holding him back.

At what point do you put a leash on a player?
When they go 2-20? 3-30? 4-40?
I know if Kuzma starts a season 3-30 from three you guys are going to want him to stop shooting threes.

I preemptively get mad when he shoots it now

The attempts say the Lakers encourage it, the Clippers clearly didnāt which may mean he was never able to get into a rhythm and confidence with that shot, not to mention how many of those may have been at the end of the shot clock.
Average it out and he took less than one mid range shot per game and already averaging like 2 with the Lakers. So yes the Clippers clearly held him back.

We are trying to reframe from hating on the Clippers in here. It's gotten old.

Not hating and i said if it doesnāt directly correlate to the Lakers then itās old. Weāre talking about Harrellās mid range game on the Clippers vs on the Lakers you bozo

Yes, but my point was how long does a team encourage a shot if it's not going in. Harrell has had zero history of being a shooter in his career.
