Mays averaged 15 PTS & 8 AST in 6 games for the Blazers last year.

This year, in November, he averaged:

9 PTS & 5.5 AST.

Including 3 straight games w/ 10+ AST (11, 12 vs LAL, 10).

Lakers are done using JHS as the third string point guard.

He'll be developing in the G league for the South Bay Lakers (he just recently had a game)

Mays will fill that role now until Gabe comes back.

Yea there's alot of things he needs to work on.

He doesn't follow through on his shot most of the time, which is why he's such a bad shooter.

He needs a whole summer with a shooting coach to get reps.

He's not that athletic and can't finish at the rim so he needs to develop a floater.

If he doesn't learn how to shoot, then he could be out of the league pretty quickly.

But it doesnt matter too much if he's a bust cause Lakers got a gem in Maxwell Lewis.

We also got Castleton who could be a backup center next year. He's been killing it in the G league. He just needs to build more muscle so he can guard bigs at the NBA level.

Darvin Ham says the Gabe Vincent injury is the main reason that JHS hadn’t played any G League games until last night. Adding Skylar Mays and giving them an extra point guard is allowing JHS to go get the reps he needs with South Bay.
