A week later imo
Contenders for top 10 Lorde, maybe in a year or two they will be all time faves:
Shapeshifter, If She Could See Me Now
I listen to these daily and think they are really good:
Favourite Daughter, Broken Glass, David
Good but I listened to these too much as singles and will skip every now and then:
Hammer, What Was That
50/50 chance if I'll skip:
Current Affairs, Man of the Year
Only listen to these songs when I want to listen to the whole album:
GRWM, Clearblue
Pains me to say it but this album is real… middling? There’s interesting ideas on here production wise but it feels like it’s a little underdeveloped and there is a real absence of any memorable melodies on here, (with the exception of songs like Man of The Year, Broken Glass, Favorite Daughter?) the hooks kinda lack punch more than anything else.
The arrangement and composition of most of these songs pale in comparison to her songwriting, she’s still very sharp there. Cool album for what it is though
Her verse on Girl So Confusing Remix was still the best thing of this era by far.
I thought the album would sound more like that.
top 3 so far
current affairs
favourite daughter
shapeshifter
broken glass
updated top 5 after a full week of listening
David
if she could see me now
Broken Glass
Shapeshifter
Favourite Daughter
incredible album
Lorde writing lyrics like she's the Unabomber
more time went into this picture than the album

Yeah I feel comfortable rating this album around a 7-8.
There are a couple skips which is unfortunate for an 11-track, 35 minute long album. I go into new albums knowing that I won't like every song but it's still disappointing when it's one of your faves.
I really hope Silver Moon is on the deluxe. Very excited to see her on tour. Might have to take a trip to NY in December for the special added shows.
Based on my tastes, I feel like I should be a bigger fan of Lorde, but she has never stuck with me. And I always give her new albums a genuinely fair shake to see if something sticks for me. But aside from several songs off her debut, I haven't cared for anything she's done unfortunately — and this new album isn't any different.
Oh well, I will try again on the next album. Cheers to her fans digging it though
This is my #1 from her
Love the stripped back Blonde approach. Has some great build up on every song and it pays the f*** off.
