we have no idea in what capacity he was ever really involved in it beyond what's likely at least one song

you know you're right, i'm not sure why in my head it seemed like he had a confirmed bigger role or it was being promo'd that way.. but the most we've gotten is ig pics together

They've been friends for years, attending each others shows and hanging out in NYC (which is where all the pics come from).
He was rumoured to be involved in production from the beginning of the album cycle and he has engaged with all of the promo
I don't have inside info but I wouldn't be surprised if he had prod. credits on multiple songs. But I would be very surprised if he wasn't involved at all

itd be dope if he had a couple joints on there but im not mad if he doesnt do the whole album
I don't think a single person expected Dan Nigro to have credits on this let alone the lead single. He was quiet until this morning when he reposted Lorde on his story with eyes emojis.
Patience imo
She'll tell us more about the song and hopefully album/tour announcement tomorrow
What Was That produced by Lorde, Jim-E Stack, Daniel Nigro
i dont like the DanielNigro-fication of pop music. his sound is stale and reductive, not forward thinking
I like this more than anything on the last album
I love the big WHAT WAS THAT during the hook, and I like the drum pattern a lot. I do kinda feel like the song feels slightly underproduced like all the ideas are there, the drums dont thump how they should though, they sound shy. I wish the synths were bigger too but the sound selection is great.
I’m unsure about the “this is the best cigarette ive ever had” line the deliver feels clunky.
Overall though I like the song, I can see myself playing it again and I could see it being a lot better in context
