i was SO wrong about this album

just relistening with no expectations, tbh its my first relisten since release
Lorde is a top 5 artist for me so I was expecting a groundbreaking album and her most ambitious work yet - obviously this soured my enjoyment when I realized we were instead getting a severely stripped back, minimalist, diet-Lana type formula on a lotta songs with a disproportionate focus on Lorde's vocals + scarce drums
so yea just appreciating it for what it is, it may not be her best album but its still an enjoyable listen with some great Lorde tracks like Mood Ring, The Path, Solar Power, California, etc. as well as her most intimate vocals and lyrics to date. and the lack of low end makes the dynamics of the album unique for her
cant wait to bump this joint in the Vancouver spring
@op new video
Nice. I like the lil choreography moment at the end
went to see kween Lorde the past three nights in Montreal + Toronto (x2). took some 4k videos
California

Solar Power

Ribs

i’m super biased because i’m a Lorde stan but it was amazing.
i saw her three days in a row and i’m already making plans to see her again in May.
you have to remember that she likely won’t release another album until 2024 or 2025, which means it’ll be a long time before she tours again. the last time i saw her was in 2017, so it was a five year gap for me.
some of the deeper cuts on Solar Power (stoned at the nail salon, secrets from a girl, oceanic feeling) will likely never be performed again when she tours for her next album so if you do like those type of tracks, it’s basically the only chance you’ll see them performed live.
i used to have songs like Ribs and Team on repeat when i was a teenager and it made me so happy to see her perform them again, literally 10 feet away from me. i wish she could’ve performed A World Alone or Bravado but i guess they’re not popular enough.
she’s so amazing and although the vocal performance isn’t the best (she has a backing track and she dances during the songs too), for me it’s just the experience of getting to see my favourite artist. i couldn’t put a $ value to it, but i know that if i missed her that it would be a forever regret.
i love her

Sounds good. Absolutely love her first two albums but for me the new album… isn’t a “miss” but like I don’t have them on repeat like her previous albums. Should be an interesting show

yep, i’m the exact same way. Pure Heroine is my #1 album ever and Melodrama is in my top 10.
the good thing is that she does perform several songs from both older albums — and she’s been rotating the set list just a bit — so you’ll definitely be able to experience that too.
hope you enjoy the show fam :) LMK how it goes
@vela absolutely great show. Wouldn’t say it “made me” a fan of her new album but the performance was good. But her old s*** hits live
great time had
