Had a co-worker literally say the “R” word during a store meeting and no one even seemed to care, and my other co-workers were like 85% zoomers.
I was the only one who seemed to be like
That social media bubble is some wicked s***.
I’ve mostly removed that word from my vocab but the idea that it’s genuinely harmful is totally foreign to most people.
Hell, even the f word is still socially acceptable in certain communities.
It is in this country tho

The medical term "spastic" came into use to describe cerebral palsy.3 The Scottish Council for the Care of Spastics was founded in 1946, and the Spastics Society, an English charity for people with cerebral palsy, was founded in 1951. However, the word began to be used as an insult and became a term of abuse used to imply stupidity or physical ineptness: a person who is uncoordinated or incompetent, or a fool. It was often colloquially abbreviated to shorter forms such as ‘spaz’.
Although the word has a much longer history, its derogatory use grew considerably in the 1980s and this is sometimes attributed to the BBC children's TV show Blue Peter;5 during the International Year of Disabled Persons (1981), several episodes of Blue Peter featured a man named Joey Deacon with cerebral palsy, who was described as a "spastic". Phrases such as "joey", "deacon", and "spaz" became widely used insults amongst children at that time.6
Aight well here in America and especially in the Black community "spaz" means wylin out and has zero intent to offend so ion really care about what they coming up with out in the UK. Personally I think our use of the word spaz makes more sense and is better since it removes the ableist history behind it
Because people stopped being reactionary and actually listened to the song and context
When people were calling Kendrick a hotep cause he said the name “Dr. Sebi” regardless of context <<<
People really got over that surprisingly fast. I suppose because Kendrick didn’t engage with it whatsoever
just wait 72 hours and it'll blow over. drake gets it

"My mom has this thing called the 72-hour rule. It happened years and years and years ago, the first time I ever had...it was just when the culture of the Internet, like the blog gossip culture, was happening, and they edited some picture of me and my cousin. I was like, Oh, this is it! Everyone is going to believe this, look at the edit. It was crazy, something crazy. My mom said to me, 'You know what, you'll go to sleep tonight, you'll wake up and it'll still bother you. Then you'll go to sleep again and you'll wake up and it'll bother you a little less. And then on the third day you'll wake up and someone else will have done something stupid enough that everyone will forget.' That's the 72-hour rule. I've learned to control my emotions for those first two or three days. That's why I don't run to social media and start yapping about my anger or my frustration, I let it sit, and it always goes away."
