Other countries gotta literally force people to join the army
But I think a big reason outside of the propaganda and the possible benefits should you do a couple years and survive with no residual effects is the fact that it gives people a sense of reason if they don’t previously have it. Seems common for someone to not have a direction in life and join the army in hopes that it brings meaning
