Abolish or Defund?

I say Defund and a clean wipe with a strong reform plan

You can't outright abolish the police. Crimes are still going to be committed and someone will need to intervene.

That said, it'll be a long process to defund & reform the good ol' boys to be less militaristic than they are now. And like with our current batch of politicians, you'll need to get new blood in there to help push the reform.

i think a good point people are making is that u might need a sort of police for certain things, but definitely not other things like

Mental health professionals/experts that help with like... suicidal situations or stuff that requires people with that type of training,

emergency personnel...

I'm not the greatest to explain it but most likely situations could be done without the threatening image of the police, that way maybe they'd just narrow their field to more specific s***,

Our society would have to make a lot of changes, the government as well, but how we behave to each other. its interesting to think about

You're absolutely right. Police aren't (and shouldn't be) trained to handle everything. Their focus should be deterring/preventing crimes & DE-ESCALATION of certain situations.

If someone with mental health issues is having a hard time, a bunch of cops shouldn't be the ones to pull up. It should be people who know what they're doing & know how to handle that situation.

Calling 911 shouldn't be the catch-all for problems in your neighborhood.

In the shipyard you're constantly reminded of danger and the fact that pretty much ANYTHING around you could kill or seriously injury you.

This guy might be deceased or permanently disabled, the protests fill you with the energy of invincibility, it's a weird intoxicating feeling but it also makes people very reluctant to evaluate their safety.

This is why PROFESSIONALS aka CONSTRICTION/DEMOLITION crews do this, to avoid this kind of tragedy. They would of seen the countless safety violations
