Frankly the system may very well fail no matter what the actual charges are because it's clearly cop > citizens in their eyes, but at least get the charges right.
We don't need a precedent that beating the s*** out of an already arrested man, removing him from your cop car, throwing him to the ground and murdering him is only the equivalent of a hard slap on the wrist. Charge them based on what they did, not what you think you can argue for in court.
Not to promote my own post but I do think this plays at least a small part of Keith Ellison's decision

Ellison is no dummy.
I wanna say they're just going to have him hold that L just to appease and placate people. Not like the judicial system hasn't acted in convenience before. 2nd degree is just more believable than 1st.

Regardless of all of this, it is tough to PROVE intent, but I see you can't have accessories (for some reason) on 3rd degree murder

And any settlements that get made over a scenario of police misconduct should come directly out of the pensions of the cop AND the police chief. Bc right now tax payers front the bill for all of those settlements that get made
