i'm not really disagreeing with you, people from lots of places would be angry but the long term good of it would vastly outweigh any number of individual complaints. there'd still be forums, smaller communities, etc. online. just not heavily centralized mass social media that everyone in the world is simultaneously participating in. i think it'd really do a lot of good. for one thing it'd immediately fix misinformation campaigns which right now are quite a big problem
