Imagine its your store you worked hard to open up... your own people loot it and burn it down to protest the police. You are now jobless and out of money because the items you sell are all looted.

How is that furthering anything? Now that jobless business owner is probably going to turn to government assistance or crime and live a life of poverty.

Don’t have my notes on it but basically it’s a laspeyres index that’s used to adjust for inflation which overestimates inflation by a little each year so basically social security is paying more and more in real terms per year

I think current social security in real terms is like 30% higher than the 90s or something

Also there’s the issues w the social security fund but it’s a s***show basically which is why politicians avoid it and why it’s gonna be an issue in 2030 ish when it all catches up
