I’m intrigued bout his stance on EA, cause like outside of maybe major sample issues or producer issues, why put music out just to get it out (if it ain’t your best effort)?

His work ethic hasn’t slowed down at all but like Uzi started working on LIR OG in like January 2015 and by August 2016 we had three classic projects back to back to back. So outside him just being on a crazy creative wave, why it take almost twice the time for one project and the quality is just not really all that comparable (although I really enjoy EA I just don’t think there’s a lot of crazy standout “great” Uzi songs on the non deluxe at least).

Granted good point bout the leaks cause like especially Of Course that s*** totally changed the directory of the drop, he was playing that at every concert. He always did say his songs were like his kids, but also I think he meant personal too like someone close to him may have let the tracks get taken.

I think there’s more to the story too, have a feeling the label / management s*** was f***ing up when and what he was allowed to drop (would have for sure got more SoundCloud songs if their wasn’t some interference).

I really feel like Forever Young is gonna be LIR2 again (widely loved, more so by the mainstream and less by the die hards) but if he does drop that SC tape or an equivalent to LIR 1.5 that s*** gonna go f***ing stupid.

    relax

I’m mad relaxed my guy, it’s weird for an artist to be saying his last work wasn’t it not even a year after release when their was a long wait and a lot of anticipation for it. I said my piece he’s got plenty of gas left in the tank but I’m confused with how much good s*** he previewed too why he drop what he dropped? At the end of the day it’s still a good album, just ain’t THE album ya know?

    Plus remember this:

Bizarre to see him contradict this energy so directly just under a year on from the albums release

For me, I think EAs biggest shortcoming is that it is strangely absent of a HIT song

As a body of work, it's great, I love it a lot, I'd go far as to say it is probably his most cohesive body of work thus far

But even with the deluxe attached to it, is it missing that synonymous hit anthem that his previous albums had

LIR2 - XO, The Way Life Goes, 20 Min
TPLT - Do What I Want & Erase Your Social
VSTW - Money Longer, You Was Right & P&Qs

Eternal Atake doesn't really have that hit anthem that can be instantly associated with it. . . idk Baby Pluto maybe? Myron? Yessirskiii?

XO Tour Lif3 was such a double-edged sword because on the one hand, it obviously propelled him into stardom, but on the other, I feel like HE feels pressured to make another hit song that'll surpass it

I think the pandemic also played a role in that as well...

Overall the album felt like it missed the mark

It's for sure a consistently very good album

But it doesn't have that standout AMAZING moment that LIR2 had (first listen on Sauce it Up, first listen on The Way Life Goes I knew it'd be a hit instantly etc etc)

The process of the rollout & the deluxe aided the memorability of the project a lot too

But even with us getting all the grails on the deluxe, aside from maybe Myron, none of them became quintessential Uzi songs

Hopefully with Forever Young he can recapture that energy - either way, he's never really missed for me discography-wise, I even f*** with BPxP heavy and still have it in rotation

But yeah hopefully he comes back with that instant anthem energy with his upcoming projects

Yeah none of the songs took off (partially pandemic related I think and Uzi not using any gimmicks to propel his songs into meme status), you can tell he was real upset bout that cause like he really want a song to go diamond (XO is very close) but all the tracks missed the marked even if a few went plat

Not unreleased but Count Dem Rolls from 2014 is prolly his closest song stylistically.

Uppin Downers has a pretty aggressive energy but is more in line with what Uzi was doing 2016-2017

On his long IG live where he previewed a lot of songs he really thinks that “Party with the Demons” snippet is gonna be his next smash but to me (from the little I’ve heard) idk bout that at all

mannnn.... that was easily the BEST Uzi interview of all-time.

Uzi comes across so well man and he was so respectful of the OG Fat Joe who didn't interrupt much and just let Uzi be Uzi

i cant wait to hear this new album he's working, Lil Prince to the moon 🚀

he just said that cuz he wants a smash hit and EA didn’t have that

i mean sometimes not even he knows what he wants, basically tryna appears to every fan, i wish he just did himself without caring about the “2016/17 fans”, we’d probably have the Pharrell project and the songs prod by Grimes by now

Yeah I've heard talk as well about this one being his next big one

Difficult, almost impossible, to tell off a 17 second snippet so imma hold off on passing judgement just yet

    Sounds cool though

Like 70% of the material he's previewed in the last two months has been super promising, there is no sign of him falling off so to speak

But to capture lightning in a bottle like he did with XO Tour Lif3 AGAIN ???

Hmmmm that's so so difficult, especially if you are deliberately CHASING hits. Part of the charm of XO was the serendipity of it - it was uploaded to SC as a throwaway essentially

It isn't entirely impossible though, damn we've seen The Weeknd do it this past year with Blinding Lights SIX projects DEEP into his career

If anything this interview with fat Joe has reaffirmed the care Uzi is now putting in to making music, that's a good thing

Clearly Uzi wants another smash like XO, but if French Montana or 6ix9ine are what you are aspiring to be (since thats all either cares about), the music is gonna suck. Bro made You Was Right, Money Longer, XO, and The Way Life Goes (all which performed crazy on the charts) without trying to "hit chase." IMO its a bad mentality, like why not let the music just speak for itself. I know some artists can just tell when they got that one record, but for a lot of others they feel the same way and that s*** flop when it release.

He sat on that P project dawg, and he literally ignored a whole zip of music Grimes sent over originally like a year or so ago, he just finally worked with her recently. So idk why you'd put either on the 16/17 fans.

You can "blame" them for pressuring to make some of his new songs sound like throwbacks but none of that s*** is even released yet so you don't know if hes gonna be on the throwback s*** next drop or moving forward with what he wants.

I think this idea of making his main drops his stuff he wants out and like the "SoundCloud" drops be more reminiscent of his old stuff aint a bad mentality, cause like, especially if the SC stuff doesnt go on streaming, the casuals arnt gonna hear it anyway and only the real diehards will get that. So it wont taint the mainstreams perception.
