I liked the hook based on the snippets from the live performance but yeah it's one of those "didn't live up to the hype" songs. And it's not that our expectations were too high because the acoustic version is hard. It's the official version that sounds ass
Yea it’s a weak single but the previews we have of this album sound like it’s going to be incredible lmao.
Disappointing but same thing happened with Heartless then he dropped a classic so we'll see
Just listened again and there’s a huge problem I’m 98% sure is what turns people off: that hook melody clashes with the progression in a way that makes the hook itself dissatisfying and unpleasant when you listen to the song from the beginning
And Idk what happened in the creative process, cause I’m just lost as to why they didn’t just opt for a classic descending Db-Bb-Ab-Gb progression in the hook - Weeknd’s vocal melody literally sounds like it was written to it (the reason the hook feels off and dissatisfying), and it works after the verses
I'm kinda over the whole 80s pop thing from him. Dude has given three albums of it already. Doesn't even have to go back to his old sound but this is just overdoing it.
Reminds me of how I felt when Blinding Lights came out tbh. I never liked that or Heartless but then After Hours was so classic. I think he’s just getting the heavy palatable pop s*** out of the way first
Dawn was full of amazing creative s*** I’m not writing this one off yet
He should’ve just pretended Less Than Zero never dropped and used that as the lead for this lmao

That’s why I’m confused why folks are writing this whole new album off based off one single smh
Nigga who can’t be objective about drakes trash music wants us to believe that he is being objective about someone Drake doesn’t like
The Cure new album in stores and digital Nov 1
You get away with it if you're an actual 80s artist but this pastiche needs to STOP

Plus it’s 100% gonna be some story concept thing album wise where it fits. I still don’t like Blinding Lights but it fits perfect where it is on AH

It's been damn near a decade of this

Same way TMB was recontextualized on Dawn, I got faith

Starboy should’ve got the hate Kissland got and we wouldn’t be here
Same way TMB was recontextualized on Dawn, I got faith
I loved TMB no lie. Dawn rollout & singles were so mishandled. Out of Time & Less Than Zero should’ve been massive
