now it’s like, is this really what you’re gonna be doing for the rest of your career?
This has been marketed as the final album of his trilogy of the 80s inspired music as well as the final Weeknd album in general, did y’all expect a dark R&B album to complete this trilogy?
Niggas showed up to Avengers Endgame expecting Superman and Batman
i expected something sonically distinct, not a rehash. to be fair, i haven't been listening to the snippets so this could be an outlier, i've heard that it is. bad choice for a first single though.

Dancing in the Flames is just one single. It’s not indicative of the entire record. There are plenty of other songs that have been teased that sound nothing like it.
Also, DITF doesn’t really sound like anything on After Hours or Dawn FM. It’s way more upbeat and tonally optimistic.
This is the final album of this trilogy, I don’t know why a sound like this wasn’t expected
I love it i dnt understand the hate i do get where people say they want something different but get over it ths is where hes been at for over 10 years now
The days of him having artistic integrity and not being a corny millennial are over it’s time to give up on the idea of him going back to his old sound
it’s not bad
but it’s tired
why he keeps insisting on doing this 80s pastiche is beyond me

It’s one thing if people don’t like the song. That’s totally fair and valid.
But people that were expecting something different, especially from the last album in a synthpop-heavy trilogy, just makes absolutely zero sense to me
Hoping the song gets the take my breath treatment and is different on the album but even TMB had more going for it in it's single version
its clear you haven't listened to the album snippets
stans think this a gotcha but it literally sounds like he ramblin on hans zimmer soundtracks s*** is wack
Now we talking
its funny bc i acc like this chorus but the verses are v forgettable and as others have said the 80s pastiche is so played out and has been done better / more creatively by others like a decade ago
stans think this a gotcha but it literally sounds like he ramblin on hans zimmer soundtracks s*** is wack
It's especially not a gotcha considering the other songs he premiered are like a hundred times better and more exciting so why woild this vanilla ass song even make it
BBTM was his sellout album
And the hills +cfmf clear this joint easily
He doesnt have to resort to a charlie puth song on a youtube beat for a hit
I'm ready for Weeknd to be done with this sound. After Hours was great, I couldn't bring myself to care much for Dawn FM and now a round 3?
and the streets saying another max martin single incoming in ~2 weeks
F*** does Mike Skinner know? Lol
The days of him having artistic integrity and not being a corny millennial are over it’s time to give up on the idea of him going back to his old sound
OVOXO type beats in big 2024 would be much more corny millennial ngl
dawn FM was excusable because he did a whole album of that sound after years of playing around with it. it felt like the logical culmination of all those 80s inspired songs he had been making. now it's like, is this really what you're gonna be doing for the rest of your career? pretty boring.
Had to double check at the avi
