Pretending Drake still run s*** in 2025 is just pure delusion.

Yeah absolutely pure delusional to think somehow when I check what song is the most streamed song in the year 2025 on Spotify it’s “Nokia”

She was number one until yesterday but nobody would’ve used that to say she’s “running rap”

They never use this argument for any other artist

Eminem dropped Death of Slim Shady and it's one of the most streamed albums of the year, is he running the game still? Did nothing change from the late 90s until now?

You didn’t say that though. You said Drake is running rap because he has the most streamed song of the year.

So that would mean Doechii was running rap at this time yesterday. By your own logic

That was just one reason. We could do this all day it’s not my logic. It’s the facts via data.

    I'ma bite.

you can hear (and this is why I wasn't personally a BIG fan of SH3 even tho Red Button and Stories About My Brother I do enjoy) the passion kinda not be as evident in his RAPS as it was in let's say IYRTITL or 5AM in Toronto or on leftovers like Lefty Lucky.

Like bro sounds a lil sleepy/monotone when he does those kind of raps now.

And yes I know Champagne Poetry him explaining his waning passion for this s*** is apparent but my thing is like, if you keep rapping about how the trials and tribulations of the industry, fake friendships, etc is making you lose your passion for this then the next question to ask is "why don't you just retire then?"

Not saying I want him to retire but it legit does sound like this music industry doesn't give him any happiness or fufillness.

Ironically many people say Drake has refused to evolve as an artist.

    So what is it?

He’s been the same since he came or he’s continued to develop his sound?

'Evolution' in the music business is overrated, and a fake talking point that critics use to try and sound smart.

You don't deviate from what you do great for the sake of doing it. Artists are who they are. Artists can get better at who they are, but they are who they are.

I think his sound has evolved, but formulaically, he's still the same. You know on his flagship albums it'll be 45% Hip-Hop / 45% vibes / R&B, 10% other.

And the true reality is that people actually don't want their favorites to deviate that often. Humans don't want or like change much, and that is a fact. So the idea that we are critical of artists sticking to their DNA too much, is simply a fake talking point.

You wouldn't tell Michael jordan that he's taking too many fadeaways ya know

  • Streaming and seniority are really the problem. I do believe a lot of people these days either choose not to drop or will put out projects to simply make profit since music isn’t a profitable business like it was. It’s clear Drake doesn’t care to make something generational because of his label situation and also cause he doesn’t technically really have to
