How old are y’all lol? There is a thing called property taxes. In most states, you pay taxes on assets you own like houses and cars. Even if it’s paid off, you have to still pay the property taxes.
That’s why when Oprah did the big car giveaway (probably before some of yall were born lol), everyone still had to pay the property taxes on them.
