I thought I was gonna like this more. Didn't care about the story at all.

But the visuals and style were so pretty. Can't wait for Miami Vice.

Sorairo Utility - 5/10

While most sports and hobby narratives hinge on competition and culminate in a climactic victory that validates the protagonist’s passion, Sorairo Utility refuses to tie personal fulfillment to mastery. In this series, passion is defined by the meaning each character chooses for themselves. Ayaka’s love for golf has little to do with her technical ability and everything to do with how she uses her social media and job modelling golf clothes to inspire others to try the sport. Haruka’s growth does not come from overcoming adversity in her professional career, but from recognizing that competition has drained her joy and giving herself permission to step away and play in a more casual fashion. And Minami’s defining moment is not a tournament win, but the quiet, private satisfaction of hitting par for the first time.

The scene that most clearly encapsulates the show’s philosophy is when Minami returns to the indoor driving range and is warmly greeted with a “welcome home” by Haruka and Ayaka. In Sorairo Utility, golf is not about conquering opponents. It is about finding a place where one’s personal relationship with a hobby is embraced without judgment.
