Toothpicks are named incorrectly.

Floss. That's a verb it refers to the action of flossing.
It transcends the object and can be used in multiple situations.

Toothpick is a downright lazy name for an object and relegates the object name to one activity: picking teeth.

However in practical applications toothpicks serve many purposes. And the action of using a toothpick I believe not only deserves a name but should also be the name by which toothpicks are refered to.

My suggestion is Shlip.

Shlip: (verb) to clean with force and precision
(noun) a toothpick

The world needs to know. Please for the sake of the "toothpick" help it's cause. It deserves better.
