Itās an event whenever Kendrick drops.
Rarely get this feeling from any artist nowadays.

I never get this feeling from another artist, not even weeknd
One of my favourite little rollout moments on ktt1 was during the blankface rollout where someone finally found a link about 2 days early and had the full album as mp3 files but upon listening realised it was just a looped audio of asap rocky laughing
Cherish these moments. Who knows how many more Kendrick albums we'll get.
...Kendrick albums let alone any artists that requires you to stop what youre doing and listen when they drop. Real social listening events we can create events and moments out of
Frank is the only other current artist that has this pull and maybe a few other unicorns like D'Angelo or Radiohead if they ever drop again (ironic since the smile is dropping same day as Kendrick, I'm feasting like crazy
)
We are in the end times though, cherish it fr I won't stop saying it throughout the week

This is so true, I really have to stop myself this time from rusing into it, these moments... not just the first listen moments but the "ive been waiting for this" first listens... truly some of my clearest memories of the past few years have been moments hearing certain albums for the first time...
I remember listening to Compton at 3am with my little bro the moment it came out, having waited for detox for so long that was such a moment, never forget that... I still play that a lot tbh
Or when tpab came out I forbid myself from listening to it until I got home so I could hear it with my bro, my then high-school girlfriend broke up with me that evening for ignoring her... tbf we argued in school that day, probably because I was hidden away listening to the discography in the school art room's dark room... was mad into pinhole photography at the time and accidentally started a rumor that I f***ed someone in there when my gf came to look at some photos, hence why she wasn't allowed in afterwards...
I remember emerging from some girls flat when the heart 4 dropped, walked half way across Cardiff with it on repeat and started packing my s*** because it was close to the last few days of my term at uni. Damn dropped about 2 days after my gfs birthday, she lived across country so I listened to it on repeat on the coach home afterwards, she stayed so I got it on my lonesome.
I didn't know about gkmc when it was released, but the first time I got into kendrick was with my dad when I played him Compton in the car one Saturday, he said it was good and immediately changed my brothers mind on kendrick, him being a dre fan probably did it, but didn't expect him to be playing the album every week for the next month or so when he picked me up. First time I've ever shown my dad something he liked
Sorry but I remember these moments so much clearer than so many other moments in my life, it does happen with so many other artists too but its pretty crazy to see how life changes over the albums, I just wonder what I'll be thinking when I look back at what was happening when I hear this for the first time
i'll be honest, i really like this idea of a minimalist rollout
he's only giving as much information as he deems necessary (name, release date, album format). no single means no expectations, and therefore, no disappointment if/when those expectations aren't met. no cover and tracklist pre-release means more time for theories and speculation on the album's content, and the fact that everyone will be proven wrong at the same time.
even though we know the date of release, i would consider this, in a sense, a surprise drop. i think it would be more interesting if kendrick dropped the heart part v AFTER the album's release (if he drops it at all) as sort of an epilogue or concluding thesis
Heart Part V victory lap would be a f***ing dream
Heart Part V victory lap would be a f***ing dream
This is almost better that before, like the closing act on the tde series, to wrap it up without making the album about it

Loved DONDA but havenāt even listened to DONDA 2.
Not even for the stem player (I will probably get it at some point) I just donāt appreciate half assed art that you know people are paying for.
Heās given us ALL TIME great art, Iām okay if he just never drops anything again. Maybe settles into a Jay Z space where he drops features and beats here and there.
But please Mr West no more today.
honestly I'm trying to change my entire life for the better before this album drops. 7 big steps left to go

The 4 artists/groups you mentioned are my favorites still semi-actively making music. Cheers.
