He quite literally has said it himself at points in the past.

ā€œThirty millions later my future favors the legendary status of a hip-hop rhyme saviorā€

That’s one of the reasons I don’t like how on this album he comes across as feeling burdened by his unwanted receiving of being hailed as a savior of some sorts, considering he’s applied that title to himself before

that's why he says "heavy is the head that CHOSE to wear the crown"

he realizes it's his fault too

Checked how many seats are available left after an hour of general admission sales and that s*** is damn near sold out aside from some platinum seats. Guess the outside does love Kendrick.

I was looking up the Heart 3 earlier and saw a line about the Matrix, he has a similar line somewhere on this album about how he can't keep living in the Matrix. He says "Where you from?" on United in Grief, referencing Maad City. Fee-fi-fo-fum was a lyric on i. Worldwide Steppers also has a few lines like this

For years I've noticed this thing where he has a lyric that ends up being a song title years later. It always felt like he went back and listened to his older music before dropping an album, but it's especially noticeable here. It feels like he put some things in here fans of his would be able to pick up

The whole album feels like he's putting a bow on this past era of his career. It feels like a transitional work. I bet we'll look back at this album years down the road as the turning point of his artistic direction.

he got a lot of fans across multiple generations and people who might not listen to hip-hop that much, still might listen to the new kendrick album

He sold out both LA shows already and they’ve already added a 3rd show

It does feel transitional in the sense that if he doesn’t drop something soon to follow it up, his legacy drops to Cole level

I was listening the other day and was liking it but was like this can’t be it

His legacy is fine good grief. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you but the album is great.
