i like that this project feels so..isolated

like it doesnt sound as bombastic as tpab or like there's as much going on as damn

sometimes it feels like we're listening to kendrick in a vacuum

the instrumentation will settle out and then sparsely swell back in when needed and obviously shoot up to the rafters when needed

count me out for instance

there's so many layers to that track

QUITE literally his best or 2nd best produced album and its not close

this is undebatably false

the instrumentation may be minimal, but it definitely is still rife with character

kendrick, himself, is married to the instrumentation

his adlibs, for instance, are the most he's ever done on a project, and the instrumentation compliments them completely

while kendrick does bring a lot out of the production, it is right at pace with him

Thematically, Father Time would make a lot more sense on the second half, and Silent Hill would make more sense on the first half

you cant listen to united in grief and say this is his worst produced project

that is on pace with twitter takes saying jack harlow was better than this

Best & worst is completely subjective though. If you wanna make the argument that this is his most expansive and intricately produced project, then that’s a conversation to be had. I definitely wouldn’t call the production on here “bad” though.

I can fully understand someone preferring the overall production of GKMC, TPAB, and DAMN. over this, but Mr. Morale is easily more maximal and meticulous than all of those (TPAB is arguable)

This album would be perfect to me without Count Me Out and Crown.

Such a slow start to the second disc. Would have been better to start at Silent Hill.

Hypes died already, the world moves quick these days, and this album has staying power
