There is indeed a convincing enough exploration of race and sexual politics when Kendrick raps: ā€œSciatica nerve pinch, I don’t know how to feel/Like the first time I f***ed a white b****.ā€ But the implicit misogynoir isn’t far from reach.

    What

    this is f***ing crazy

i expected P4K and Rolling Stone to underrate this album

not to be contrarian or anything, but to overemphasize how "problematic" and "unfiltered" the album is

"As Kendrick tells the story of a family member’s gender identity, he stumbles in the face of these kinds of inconsistencies. Simply co-opting a family member’s story is not the same as knowing their pain."

    Yo this RS review wild

"It is indeed naive to ignore the complicated dynamics of attraction, love and violence, but so too is proffering them with too much meaning. We end on Paige’s character pleading for sex, a passively misogynistic take on female desire and male aggression."

Oh my god it keeps getting worse

i think this album and BCNR's album that came out earlier in the year are my first genuine 10s since joining KTT

i truly believe they both work as their magnum opuses and the best in their respective discogs

kendrick: so this is the story of a distant relative told from the point of view of my deceased childhood friend who's spirit represents a whole generation of kids born between 1980 and 1989

this could end up dropping below 90 lmao but who cares

People were going at my neck early when I said this possibly will get a lower rating than his other albums just cause they seen it was at 100 on metacritic with like 4 reviews

I’m not wishing it but if any album of his doesn’t get the classic treatment, it’ll be this one

It’s like these people don’t live real life

anyone who’s been in that situation can relate to how accurate we cry together is
