Yeah but another theme is generational trauma and he questions whether abusers would do their crimes if they weren't abused. But actually having a abuser narrate on the album isn't a smart decision imo. Unlike the whole Aunties Diaries situation where you can tell the intention is pure, I'm just questioning where his intentions lies in having an abuser on the album.

My personal interpretation is that, he’s essentially trying to show his humanity through someone who is an exact product of all of the issues he had mentioned across the album…generational trauma, passing it down to others (sexual assault case), flaunting with fashion and women just to cover up issues, being stereotyped and having your music used against you while they simultaneously praise it.

I think Kendrick is saying to the common folk, look at me and look at Kodak. Yall put me on a pedestal while you look at him as another nigga. But really, at the core of our humanity what truly separates us? Nothing because we come from the same f***ed up upbringing that was created by the ones who judge us.

See I was thinking that too, but thats where it becomes touchy, because then that message than actively hurts the victims and justifies the rapists and abusers actions. Its a weird situation tbh I'm tryna see what y'all thinking tbh.

Yeah I see what you mean. Trying to toe between a fine line of empathizing the background of one side vs. not downplaying the emotions of the other is tough. It might not even be right for me to tell someone they’re wrong if they feel offput by having Kodak being present, but at the same time, even if someone understands the artistic decision they still may not agree with it. It’s tough, and in the same vein I know that a certain group of people won’t even bother to try and understand why but it is what it is I suppose
