its just a continuation of keem/damn aesthetics and gives no further insight into the narrative of the album
frankly that's what makes MMBS a little bit frustrating. You're asking listeners to engage with borderline invasive lyrical content AND listen to you oscillate between deeply personal stuff and the whole keem irony s***? why not just make the personal album the TPAB follow-up and then tour off of a kendrick/keem collab album or a pglang comp? A song like rich spirit wouldn't be as deflating to listen to in that context
I'm not even saying that the keem irony s*** is bad - I actually think its a breath of fresh air as far as hip hop camraderie is concerned, and Savior is one of my favorite songs on the album. But there's a time and place for everything and gelling that kind of duality into the album doesn't have the same implications that say Kendrick/Kodak does.
I'm kinda confused as to what you mean bruv, Kendrick's always had this dichotomy between dark and light subject matter on his albums.
The bragging song "Rigamortis" is on the same album as "Keisha's Song"
The vibey "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" and "Backseat Freestyle" is on the same album as the somber "Sing About Me, I'm Dying Of Thirst"
Backseat Freestyle is the video that gave us this scene lol
TPAB kinda sticks to it's themes all the way through but then you have stuff like "i" and the funky ass King Kunta and Wesley's Theory with the humorous "We Want the FAWNK" and Chappelle Show Rick James references respectively.
I think the reason this dichotomy throws people off here is cuz this is the most introspective we seen Kendrick get, but I also think that without those this album would be an even tougher listen imo lol

It seems like your point is that on the song, Kendrick is empathizing with people who still have more learning to do. Where I get lost isā¦ how does him using the f word on the song illustrate this point? You say something about how he has to use the language of the ignorant in order to reach them. This doesnāt make any sense to me. I think people would get what heās saying even if he didnāt use the word. Is Kendrick saying that people put too much emphasis on saying the word, and not enough on the intention? Well in that case the question I asked you is super important to everything. Does Kendrick think he was wrong for telling the white girl not to say the n word at his show? When I asked you this it felt to me like you were trying to wriggle out of a straight answer with semantic games. But maybe Iām not understanding you.

This was not my point at all. My point was I believe Kendrick already came to this realization away from the music, and this song is his message to them. It's not a song to people who understand the impact the word has, it's for the ones that don't.
I tried to help you understand that you are probably not the intended audience of this message. Especially if you think it doesn't make sense to use the language of the ignorant to reach them.
If you really just want an answer to your premise, with your parameters, which serves only your purpose and seemingly has no room to expand on answers, then yes, absolutely, yes, Kendrick was wrong and probably thinks he was wrong.
I don't know you but if you grew up experiencing that part of the black community that Kendrick is sending this to and understand how deeply ingrained that s*** is in everyday life then I don't see how you don't understand why he did what he did. It's literal hatred that has been passed down from generation to generation.
And you know what? I realize that I don't even fully agree with his methods, but having grown up in it, I completely get it. My whole mission was for you to understand that too.
Contradictions can be artistic tools too, I could never really know if he intentionally contradicted himself (I just believe he did, but only he and his team know) but please investigate why he could have. You'll miss out on a whole lot of learning otherwise.
