Can someone help me with the significance of both Mr Morale and The Big Steppers lol?

It seems like he's Mr Morale bc he was focused on healing everyone else? I.e. raising their morale? And then at the end chooses to focus on himself and heal (presumably talking about the 5 year hiatus and/or probably another coming hiatus lol)

Not sure what the Big Steppers are lol just his homies or something? Or he was at first being a big stepper because he was flexing or something?

The Big Steppers is a reference to him tap dancing around important subjects in his therapy session (which is basically what the album is - Kendrick in therapy). That’s why you hear the ā€œStop tap dancing around the conversationā€ in the song We Cry Together. There are tap dancing bits throughout the first disc to resemble the tangents Kendrick goes on and him not getting to the root of his issues. The first half of the album doesn’t necessarily have Kendrick open up about anything that makes him vulnerable and honest within himself. That’s where the second half comes in - Mr. Morale. At the beginning of Count Me Out, you hear ā€œSession 10...breakthroughā€ which Kendrick finally does with songs like Crown (he accepts he can’t make everyone happy), Aunt Diaries (opening up about his transgender family member), Savior (he’s tired of being idolized/he’s only human), Mother I Sober (mother was sexually molested by someone in the family) etc. You get the point. The first half Kendrick talks about things that are minimal and don’t really matter such as petty arguments in a relationship (We Cry Together) and how he grieves differently than everyone else without mentioning what the griefs are until the second act.

At least that’s what I take out of it.
