I should've specified what I meant by nowadays, my bad lol. 80s,90s classics have vinyl releases with brilliant dynamic range. I was listening to the OG pressing of Ready To Die and that thing is brilliant, great mastering. Some early 00s stuff has good dynamics on wax too. There's a bunch of trash mastered albums from mid 00s, like for example, Like Father Like Son, which has that over-bright sound.

I don't see any issue with the EQ side of the mastering on Mr Morale. It's the volume aspect that has it brick-walled.
