It really makes me sad and feel like an outcast that it seems these days people online take hardline stances for an artist or group of artists and completely reject the notion that you can enjoy a variety of music even if it is from their contemporaries. I love Kendrick because of the depth he provides, I love Drake/J Cole because itâs relatable, I love Kanye because he was the GOAT as I was going up, etc. Basically online identity politics has infiltrated hip hop and we end up putting these guys against each other when it should be a celebration we get to appreciate and grow with their craft. S*** is bleak asf man
If we being honest the Drake / Kendrick s*** literally dates back to Control as well as Kendrick becoming a big mainstream artist lol.

I agree. Itâs almost impossible to have a mature and nuisanced discussion about anyone without resorting to petty points and jokes. I saw myself today getting sucked into the bullshit in the sales thread and noped tf out of there. I wanna be the kind of person who is just here for the quality.

Itâs just stupid to me because we donât know any of these guys personally so I donât know why we have to take it to a personal level. I donât know maybe Iâm just able to detach more because at the end of the day I listen to music for enjoyment and out of the passion I have so it makes me sad to see people unappreciative when we losing people left and right you know?

I think saying the n word is harsher cause thatâs the value we put on it. Everyone collectively thinks of the n word as the worst thing you could possibly say. A lot of factors have made that so, but thatâs how it is today. So in order to call someone the n word, youâd have to have so much hate that you break this incredibly dire social contract. Thatâs the only difference. Itâs a difference of how they hit. But that doesnât change the fact that both slurs are saying, I hate the thing you are. For Kendrick, we allow him the out of context. âItâs a past perspective. Your intention is good.â But for Jack Harlow, we wouldnât allow him that out. It wouldnât matter what context Jack used, people would find the word offensive anyways. Thatâs hypocritical.
