The arc from GKMC to here is pretty interesting.

Gkmc - using his voice to tell his story giving back to his community like what his mom said on real

Tpab - is him going deeper with that mindstate of giving back to his community and speaking bout problems of the world that affects black people and problems thats affecting him as he faces doubt of if his message is really having any effect (u)

Damn - he starts looking inwards more so than what he was doing on TPAB while also tryna have a balance of looking outwards at the matters of the world. But mostly him reflecting on his flaws and the pressure he faces the more famous he becomes

MMTBS - feels like he had time to really reflect on his position as some savior like him was saying on Damn and hinted at on TPAB (u) due to the critiques he faced during 2020, which made he really come to the conclusion to reject that position he originally thought he wanted

A lot more in depth than that tho

This man has never stuck to a sound and that’s a testament to his genius.

    What you guys want next?

Wouldn’t mind him just spazzing on some hip hop beats tbh. Like on Holy Ghost with Jeezy and Cartoons. Maybe a mixtape or some s***.

Although this is pretty much DAMN, which I enjoy immensely and revisit the most of any album.

Really? It was one of the first things that stood out

I think second listen I’m going from count me out to Purple Hearts to see if anything stands out, cause I know there’s a message theme and point but I really can’t pinpoint what he’s talking about entirely

Think its cause Kodak was on a song on side b and I kinda missed the eckhart parts. Also with the sides being flip flopped from the titles which made me miss it

We really gonna wait that long again huh.

At least we got an amazing discog to keep finding layers in.

S***, I still notice things on TPAB.

Kodak was actually on mirror for a quick second, but his most significant contributions were on big steppers, I don’t think eckart was on big steppers at all

Yeah you're right it is still his most depressing work, there are no songs as dark as feel or lust on here

i didnt realize how much depressing damn was until very recently, some of those songs sound so hopeless

So would that make Mr Morale the holier than thou persona that people expected him to be on the album?

Mr Morale seems to be him accepting these faults, cos he gets more mellow each track, he’s accepted he isnt a saviour, that he had issues of generational black trauma and is overcoming them, and becoming a family man

Fr, lust is a great example of that hopelessness about the state of things

Wake up in the mornin', thinkin' 'bout money, kick your feet up
Watch you a comedy, take a s***, then roll some weed up
Go hit you a lick, go f*** on a b****, don't go to work today
Cop you a fit or maybe some kicks and make it work today
Hang with your homies, stunt on your baby mama
Sip some lean, go get a pistol, shoot out the window
Bet your favorite team, play you some Madden
Go to the club or your mama house
Whatever you doin', just make it count
