I could take 14 songs and make a classic out of these

that's like 80% of the songs anyway

Yeah i get that people saw him as his savior

That doesn't mean he gotta make the outro a song with a hook that goes

    I CHOSE ME I'M SORRY (X50)

As opposed to choosing .. the people? Or what? Being a messiah? There's other ways than either having a messiah complex or a hyper indovidualist mentality that he displayed here

Yep: The album's message is only as thorough and nuanced as it wants to be

    imagine Kendrick saying f****t x3

    oh wait

then he would be like most of the world

Honestly even if he did have a messiah complex in the beginning (which is highly understandable in his situation)
He could’ve definitely just had a change of heart these last 5 years which is a longtime to sit & reflect

he probably seen the flaws of that thinking & have regrets

Two sides of the Gemini Double album too

kendrick is a great rapper obviously but everytime he drops a "deep bar" it feels like reading a tweet from one of those fake j cole or kanye twitter accounts

  • BLACK

he's not self aware on tracks like this though. He's bigheaded, cocky and toxic, which is fine because that's what we love from him. But Drake has never even touched on childhood trauma like that in music

You right. Drake in his introspective bag is fascinating

imagine kendrick saying “f slur f slur f slur f slur”

i hate how people just focused on that and not the bar right after it where he says “we didn’t know no better”

    Will Simp

I actually feel like he painted himself as a savior/messiah type figure more on Untitled 1, The Heart 4 and the Heart 3 ("Will you let hip hop die on GKMC release date")

But he's also been pointing out his flaws and saying he's not perfect throughout his career, so I get both sides fr

he does say he's a prophet and that we should listen to him... but not a savior

i know this seems like a pedantic difference but it's meaningful

he can tell you information that he thinks would help you... but he can't save you himself

People gotta stop saying FIVE years. 2017 and 18 he was touring nonstop and put out black panther. It's more like 2-3 years he was actually sitting down

This album is really good but you can’t really sit in your whip and put this s*** on repeat from start to finish lmao

The sad part of his career is that if you listen to good kid, od, section 80, some of damn,

He’s very clearly inclined in that regard. It’s like he purposely chooses at times to make music that has little use beyond marveling at the subject matter which sucks IMO

white critics overlove him the same way that some of them love going OD hate on harlow. to make it seem like they "down". this is a really, really good album but us as fans/reviewers should try to poke holes on stuff we love too if we find them. not just say it's perfect cause no album is.

a big part of loving something means loving it while acknowledging its flaws

It's one of the longest charting albums. Just cause YOU don't like it doesn't matter. The world doesn't revolve around your peon taste.

To be fair, he could have thrown a static bleep in there or something, like straight out of Disco Elysium.

even the self censor would get him

em censored himself and still caught heat

if you removed the entire 2nd disc and released this 3 years ago it'd be one of his best albums
