On one end, I have zero desire to listen to any of these songs outside of the context of the album except the Kodak song and maybe Purple Hearts
On the other end, itās an incredibly intimate and compelling body of work front to back

shaleiroseThis is kind of how Iām feeling.
First listen I thought it was solid but wasnāt blown away like I was with his last three albums.
Second listen the musical concept clicked and I liked it a lot more than first listen.
And now currently on my third listen I still think itās good overall, but Iām struggling to see myself 6 months to a year down the line just casually playing a majority of this album
The main concept of this album seems to be "Feeling and healing" definitely a lot of real s*** being said. I think this album is an album to really speak to Black men. Telling us to feel our emotions, heal our past traumas, and be our true selves fearlessly. I really f*** with the message.
But...I ain't gonna sit here and act like there haven't been artists with the same kinda messages in their albums and songs in the 5-6 year gap Kendrick took off. It's always good to hear that kinda s*** in rap music forreal. But I'm pretty much like "Yeah, yeah heard it already what else you got" you feel me?
