Sounds like what white ppl say when black folk try to tell them our reality.
Or kendrick is a storyteller
We get lost in the idea that rap music has to be club music gym music. It's alright if a nigga makes a concept album.

It's not love if I don't get head on the balcony sometimes
Reading these lyrics and themes, there is a major major theme drawing all of these songs together centred on the idea of searching for answers and solutions for life issues and trauma outside of yourself. Part of it centres around kendrick talking scout how he searches for solutions in women and material things, and part of it accuses us of looking to him for our own salvation. The key to all of this is mother I'm sober and mr morale. I personally lean towards the idea that the first disk is kendrick telling us about how he copes, and suffers... the 2nd disk is him holding up a mirror to us, showing us how we cope, look to other sources for solutions to problems we have to deal with looking at ourselves before anyone else. The point of the album is that hurt people hurt more people, which is the "culture" and we have to break the cycle through introspection in order to protect the next generation. To break "the culture" which is passed down through generations as disguised trauma... we look to him as our personal "mr morale" - which is meant semi sarcastically, he shouldn't be our morale dial. The world, all of us, we are the big steppers, who hurt people due to our traumas
I like the points you're making but morale has nothing to do with morality. They're two different things altogether

I think it's cause unlike Ye he hasn't done any over the top antics which I totally understand.
Critics like the concept of Kendrick more than Kendrick himself, just like critics hate the concept of ye more than ye himself.
It is doing him a disservice when it's so obvious. No matter how great and how much you like this album it is not a perfect album, it is not meant to be
I think that’s even the point of this album.
