EmotionOk my apologies bro. I completely get what he was trying to do what he knew what he was doing by dropping the f bomb. I promise you he could have really made an incredible song if he would have just left that part out. The fact that he does it repeatedly "ironically" is beyond stupid.
The only reason he felt bold enough to use it is because he knows there would be room for interpretation because of who he is and the music he makes. The doesn't mean he gets a free pass to say whatever he wants to say for the sake of "artistic freedom"
This is right in line with the thinking that says even hate speech should be considered freedom of speech. Its like saying Trump has a right to call mexicans criminals and rapists or black protestors thugs because he is just "expressing" himself
Ultimately he just does more bad than good no matter the intention
I never said he gets a free pass to say whatever he wants, I just said that I think context of said words is important. That's why I feel like the Trump example you gave here isn't adequate, cause it's just hate speech at the end of the day, nothing more, nothing less.
But I realize that even with context, words can still be triggering and bring back trauma. For me, the song remains powerful cause I'm seeing past these words, but I understand why you may feel differently. Sorry if I came off as insensitive, I never meant to and thanks for clarifying. Much love.

romea trans person's deadname is their birth name, the name they no longer go by. in this example, kendrick's cousin mary-ann's deadname is demetrius. when trans people are referred to by this name, it is usually taken as a derogatory action, and it often makes the person feel invalidated, as if they aren't the gender that they really are
First time I've ever heard of this term/phrase and I know a lot of trans people including some that have transitioned recently

MangoThe song is anti f-slur by the end. I think it's more of Kendrick using himself as a template to show others how to grow. Heart Part 5 pretty much says that and this album demonstrates it on a personal level.
i get that, and i totally understand he was demonstrating the growth of ignorance by realizing the intentions of the f-slur, but i worry it will be taken out of context by actual transphobes
satire requires a clarity of purpose and target, lest it be mistaken for and contribute to that which it intends to criticize
