It’s gotten two reviews from (minor) publications already and they’ve both given it a perfect score:

    https://www.thelineofbestfit.com/reviews/albums/kendrick-lamar-mr-morale-and-the-big-steppers-album-review

    https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/music/kendrick-lamar-mr-morale-and-the-big-steppers-review-b999623.html?amp

Album definitely the new TPAB with that you gonna see people call this critic bait.

he's smart but also if you aren't as vulnerable as kendrick you can't be reach the next tier of greatness

im sure if drake opened up more about his views he would also create divide amongst his fans. can you imagine drake coming out in support of israel

drake definitely is making music for sales and pop so it would definitely be a while 180 on an identity that has garnered him way more than what a regular artist could ask for.

    Lmao
You definitely had this one saved up

not really i dont like to say this. I still feel he has great songs

  • May 13, 2022

one thing that im really glad kendrick didn't do is he didn't go down that neo-lib bono/I love everybody/we are all one race bullshit path because I felt like he was close with those u2 features. like becoming super rich and just preaching to the choir with his celeb friends

super glad he found solace in his upbringing, decided to tell people 'how it is' when you try and maneuver through life on a public platform. this level of honestly is unprecedented and was worth waiting 5 years for

I understand that his framing on songs like Auntie Diaries is not great, plus he got Kodak on and I dont really vibe with neither Kodak or somebody like Dave Chapelle for his transphobia. I still need more listens of that album though. I guess you really cant create art without people feeling things about it, and for that im grateful

Drake will never reach Kendrick's level, the gap is too wide now. Please don't compare these two rappers ever again.

I mean theyre in complete different lanes
    Like they can perfectly coexist

Definitely won’t be there’s something for every Kendrick fan on this one without pandering imo

  • May 13, 2022

I remember people saying Kendrick was trying to much to be political correct and not say anything controversial

    Where are these people now

Nah I don’t think this is gonna get as universal critical acclaim as any of his earlier work

Someone is gonna absolutely pan it

  • May 13, 2022

This is probably his most honest album

and no, im not on the side of the f***s who complain about political correctness. im on the side of supporting someone who is clearly struggling, growing, and struggling with growing, and not being afraid to express that. a constant theme of the album is therapy. and it sounds like we were literally listening to a therapy session. imagine going to therapy and your therapist starts berating you for explaining your OWN mind in a way they personally didn’t like. a lot of growing up to do for some folks on here based on their reactions imo.

    Good breakdown n same.

Also i dont think its "anti pc" that some people are going to spin it as too (for and against).

Its mainly him just saying... IM HUMAN TOO. With his own faults, upbringings, mistakes, habits & misconceptions.

Its breaking donw and throwing away the entertainment idolization, and how people weirdly act like celebrities arent people but robots or these abstract things.

Its saying im a person too. For better or worst, please recognize that.

    DonutHole

he's been open and vulnerable on every single album of his tho
y'all acting like MC Hammer or sum released this big stepper project lmao

His vulnerability in previous albums is more from the perspectives of other people rather than himself most of the time. Even on ‘u’, its about how others percieve him. This is all about self-perception, accountability etc
