I mean, and I mean this with all respect, you can’t necessarily speak for the entirety of the LGBTQ+ community either though. It’s gonna vary person to person, but the intention is obvious and it’s presented in a very raw grounded manner that, as you said, appeal primarily to cis-gendered folks, but shouldn’t that sort of be the intention of a song like this anyway?

To make cis-gendered, straight people possibly recognize the error of their ways in a recognizable format, as in within the midst of the process of acceptance on behalf of Kendrick himself? Something that would, naturally, appear ugly to those that it pertains to, especially for people who grew up in hyper masculine focused environments?

I’ve seen some people call it a “white ally” trans anthem, but wouldn’t that be far more inoffensive (from an aesthetic standpoint) than something like this? And likely than not much more shallow?
