I think for Kendrick himself (not saying how it'll resonate with the people) Auntie Diaries was just him learning how to navigate through s*** that he was exposed to when he was young (his aunt being a man) while still having to live in a non-progressive world where that was shunned but he knew even then those negative tropes they put on trans people is cap cause of his auntie/now uncle.
Even asking his mom why the other uncles hated him so much. And bringing up the modern situation with his family member in church, showed he does know that even if he doesn't understand, he recognizes the humanity regardless under a place/church that teaches him the opposite. Which in a time where we have alarming numbers of "don't say gay" type motherfuckers in office pushing these weird laws on the LGBTQIA+ community, is cool.
While still using the f bombs while yeah, it's wild to hear, are a reflection of the times he was in.
As far as this being an anthem? I would hope niggas don't turn it into one cause this is just a personal story. He aint a savior which I think is the overarching theme of the album.
This what the song did for me, I hope this aint taken as me telling you how to feel. Cause yeah, the sentiment can be seen as surface level and I wouldn't argue with anyone that thinks that.
He's still gone about it the wrong way
Naming it Auntie's diaries and referring to his uncle as auntie throughout.
With the deadnaming.
And the flip-flopping of pronouns.
I understand that's how it was.
But as I said
It's something only cis people would appreciate and would maybe finally understand more about trans issues.
But to us?
It's harmful.
It's exactly the same stuff that my younger sibling tells me what my parents have been saying behind my back living on my own.
It hits personal for us. But we can't appreciate it because it may be growth for him. But it's just yet again trauma for us
Go to bed you got work in the morning
speak for urself
Ya treating damn like it don't got feel, Duckworth, pride, fear, lust
You listing the real good ones!!
you would spin a 5 minute argument that ends with them having s***in your car?
clearly him and his girl would be the ad-libs clearly bro
This is def more of a headphones type album than to bump through a speaksr
I’m playing it through my soundbar
Sounds amazing
Everyone stays in their echo chambers
Anything outside of that is a problem
I’m not a fan of the recent “portrayal = endorsement” trend of amateur media crit at all
I’m more shocked people are saying DAMN. is his worst album
I think it is now, I can’t put this over tpab or gkmc
Celebrities cheat all the time I feel like this is still a foreign concept to some of y’all, I’m not surprised he cheated on sme girl
The execution of Auntie Diaries was just horrible tho
my man just learnt about gender theory 101 and started spitting
save that for the sociologists fam I agree
Gotta peep,
literally like kanye x radiohead production with lyrical inspiration from kendricks private diary.
How he have writers block for 2 years while writing bangers for baby keem? Where was all that “smokin on top 5” energy on here?
this album willl hit in the gym and thats all that matters at the end of the day
Working out to Auntie and some other songs on here is insane
Glad I can say Kendrick, Drake, Cole and Kanye all delivered with their most recent efforts
