This was such a tough movie to get through. Not that it was bad but could it be any more depressing. 😪
Deffo a bleak film.
best wwII films? the ones I watch frequently:
l’armée des ombres
thin red line

Annabelle Creation is the best of the series. Pretty disturbing for a mainstream horror.

Only Nolan movie that’s gotten worse on repeat viewings for me. I remember being amazed watching it in IMAX but maybe watching it on a huge screen for the first time is what really did it for me

same it has no replay value for me, at all.
The Gentlemen is crazy
So entertaining and witty
The Houses October Built 2: 5/10. I liked the first one. It was pretty creepy in some parts. The sequel was just okay. The ending was kinda cool but nothing great. Loved all the haunts though.

Might I suggest Tarantino’s podcast on it, prior to rewatching. I liked it from the first time I saw it in theatres, but appreciated it more after hearing him speak about it for an hour.

Check this site out bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/news-bfi/lists/10-best-modern-directors-mainland-china-hong-kong-taiwan
I’m still getting familiar with East Asian directors but Hou Hsiao-hsien/Jia Zhangke seem intriguing.
If you like Japanese cinema, the Noriko Trilogy by Ozu is great (Good Morning & Tokyo Twilight too). Burning, Oasis & Peppermint Candy by Lee Chang-dong are legit Korean films to check out also.
*if anyone else has recommendations (esp chinese/hk/taiwanese) lmk
