Yes. I'm not wasting my mental energy to figure out precisely whether a mediocre movie is 1.5 stars or 2 stars.
It's just easier to dumpster everything I don't love into the 1 star category because if we're being real, under a more traditional rating system, nobody gives a f*** about knowing what mediocre movie you have at 1.5 stars. The only real thing of interest is seeing what someone actually likes, so instead of wasting rating slots on s***ty movies, I have more slots to differentiate my favourite movies from each other.
Though now that I'm thinking about it I might just change to a Michelin system where non-great stuff gets no stars and only great stuff gets stars.
If this is you’re philosophy wouldn't you simply like/favorite the movies you think are great & just log the rest
(Not telling you what to do, do what you want)

I can still log movies without having to rate them unless you're talking about something else.

No I’m talking about the little heart function it adds it to your likes, same as if you would like a review, so like a favorites section I suppose

I mean sure, but that doesn't really differentiate all the movies I consider great apart from each other. Everything I give a star I consider great, but I think it's interesting to show which ones I consider greater than others by giving them different star ratings.
I don't think it's that interesting seeing which mediocre movie is less mediocre than another mediocre movie so I'm not gonna bother giving those stars at all.

No I agree, thought you were alluding to preferring more binary ratings, i understand now ☠️
Grants transatlantic is no less hokey
They're the only two real icons that unlike everybody else didn't have to rely on being edgy and badass all the time to maintain their appeal and quality. Same reason Kinks are my favorite band.
grants just not good at the acting thing

dam watched a Jimmy Stewart flick. He sure progressing to his dark territory after the war.

David Thompson and Pauline Kael both considered him the goat and they might not be wrong

They you've seen him fully progressed
Jimmy definitely had the most prestigious war record that he never talked about or played up despite the studios wanting him to

He may forgot Harvey, but that film was charming if even.
Muppets Christmas Carol is top tier family entertainment. Michael Caine is pure joy to watch
Watched Cure (1997). Beats the other Kiyoshi Kurosawa films I've seen (Pulse, Tokyo Sonata, Before We Vanish) by a long shot. Great film!
