I missed this one, honestly I don’t know too many live albums. Only ones I’ve heard are the MTV unplugged for Nirvana, Jay-Z, and Lauryn Hill.

Imma check out all the ones y’all recommend

This album is just wow. Downtempo r&b. Made in 2004, but it sounds like the first real alternative r&b album sonically. I recommend this for Aaliyah and Janet fans. Sorry if I'm breaking the rules I just wanted to drop this by

    Duster - Duster 💨

I had heard of this band before but never checked them out. I've seen them labeled as "slowcore" and I don't think I've listened to much in that style yet. I was pleasantly surprised and liked this a lot, and I don't think its too dissimilar from some music I already listen to so I will definitely check out more from the band and similar bands.

Overall I really liked the mood and energy of the album, it was really laidback and kinda emotionally heavy without being too quiet or unexciting. I thought the guitar work was very good and kept me interesting the whole time; the drumming was also very tasteful and contributed to me not getting bored at all. The guitar tone itself is also really great and added to the overall warmth of the sound. The singing did not factor into my enjoyment very much but I think it fit very well in sound and prominence in the music. I really love this album's style because it kinda reminds me of some slacker-y type indie rock that I like as well as some more drawn out drone/spacey sound. 2 bands that came to my mind are Sparklehorse and Earth

definitely gonna check out more from Duster

Glad you liked it! Duster is a dope band, Stratosphere is a 10 IMO. Btw I would label them indie rock / space rock before slowcore so people don't get confused. Slowcore is just a playing style, it's basically an umbrella term, Galaxie 500 is much different than Duster for example.

@Sig9 Right off the bat, Scott Walker sounds like Dracula with dementia. It was a rough first-listen for me, but overall, I came around to replaying a few tracks. I will definitely be adding Hand Me Ups and The Escape to my playlist.

    6.5/10

    Best Track: Hand Me Ups

Thanks for the suggestion because ever since this dropped I never got around to listening to it.

I thought the album still had that fun exciting sound that's so prevalent throughout the NERD albums, it's not a lacklustre comeback at all as some songs on here could actually fit on some of their older material.

I do wish there was more Chad involvement in the production though because some of my favourite tracks have his input. Also, I feel like on Nothing and previous albums the songwriting was more focused/thematic(e.g life as a fish).
Here some of the lyrics sound quite abstruse, almost like he said the first thing that came to mind in the recording booth. The political/social justice messages sprinkled throughout are a positive but I feel like the tracks would have more weight if the songwriting was stronger.

I doubt I'll keep the whole album but there is songs that I'll be adding to my library.
    7/10

Fav tracks: Deep down body thirst, Voila, Dont do it, Kites

Lightning Fire Magic Prayer and 1000

    @Soupvillain

Live in Stockholm 1960 - Miles Davis

I've never really given Jazz a real chance, so this was a lot

to be completely honest i listened to it passively while i was doing other things (fifa, reading, cleaning the house), so i didn't take a lot in to the point where i can tell you what songs i liked and what they sounded like.

the big stand out was of course the John Coltrane interview, which was great

kinda tough to give this one a rating so i'll give it

    I liked it/10

I loved the solo moments in this

That Lay Lady Lay my fave Bob Dylan cover now! That was a really dope rendition. 1973 was a great year for music and this is further proof, so many albums from that year that I like. Adding this to that long list

It's Too Late and Ohio- Machine Gun were the other standout songs on the album.

man what the f***.i watched the whole live set on youtube. i started crying as soon as the curtains rose as the snow/white leaves fell on her and her music box. such a beautiful image, i was in shock at how legendary this performance is. its literally classic like 3 seconds in. thats the bjork effect. shes is one of the only musicians that makes me actually shed tears from her voice and presence.

her vocal performance on literally every song is something never before heard by mankind unless it was from bjork herself. i deadass had a transcendent experience to all is full of love. i mean holy f***ing s***. such command of her vocals. you see literally everyone on stage wit a smile on their face knowing they are taking part of something and working with someone that is 1/1.

the harpist was f***in amazing. she was shredding that s*** like it was a guitar. even bjork had to give props on stage after her solo track (i forgot which one, it was towards the beginning)

another stand out moment was when the performed cocoon. how she managed to make that big ass opera house into some intimate sanctuary with the power of her voice was legendary. and those 2 producers making the static fx by rubbing on eachother lovingly with a mic. like how genius can a person get?

the crowd was awesome too, everytime the cam was toward them you see people with huge smiles, whispering to each other basking in bjorks greatness. some ppl gave her a standing ovation for every song lmfao.

shes a master of vocal perfomance and a true goddess of music. im getting a bjork related tat as my first cause of this

10/10 masterpiece. cant stress it enough.
