Missy Elliot - Supa Dupa Fly
Timbaland is one of my favorite producers from the 90 so it's easy to like a lot of Missy's s***. This is 2nd best female rap album ever. The production aged well and it has a song for every occasion. I like the redman influence in how she raps and the fact that when she sings, it comes across naturally. She should have put Meth and Red on a song. The album doesn't really drag and she keeps it interesting. It might be slightly difficult to get into for someone who doesn't have much experience with mid-late 90s rap and Timbaland, but it's worth a listen for anyone interested in the early stages of the Rap/R&B connection/fusion.
Best songs: Best Friends, Friendly Skies, Izzy Izzy Ahh, I'm Talkin, and Why You Hurt Me?
Rating: 9/10

@bornfrompain So I didn't know what to expect going into this, The Avs sounded like a folk indie band name. First listen I found it a little jarring so only about 3 songs stood out to me but I decided to return to it the next day because those songs stuck out to me. Man I really enjoyed it on second listen, the sound is kind of like an uplifting melancholy with so many little details in songs that I didn't pick up on first listen.
Data a***ytics was at work and youtube ended up recommending Bandstand's video of all the samples on the album. I watched the video and was honestly blown away how many samples these guys use. It made me appreciate it more that they are able to construct such intricate songs from such a diverse range of mp3s. The only negative is that weirdly I wasn't really a big fan of the rap features, I don't really think they were necessary.
8/10 Will def give their first album a listen too.

Kelsey Lu is so slept on.
Ah man, thank you for this suggestion. My review is a little negative, so sorry in advance.
I didn’t hate the album but I wasnt moved by it. It sounded like your run of the mill r&b album with relationships themes and braggadocio. The production is very simple in my opinion, which could’ve been refreshing compared to the current trends but it just comes off as background music.
Been Away was my favorite track. I also liked the lyrics of Let Me Know. Despite the song being repetitive, I thought that helped make his point. I also liked how introspective they were.
After several listens, the album didnt feel special and I couldn’t find any originality in it. But he has a lot of potential, that I could definitely hear. Maybe he’ll drop a classic next time.

Wow, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s definitely a project you have to let sit for a while before you can enjoy it. I agree on the rap features but I believe this new one will be what we’re hoping for in terms of features. Check their new single out it’s so heartwarming.

solid indie record which holds up well, the lead single are still crazy but there are no filler anyways 8/10
Thanks for putting me on to bad bunny, this album f***ing slaps

SO yea this is unlike what I was expecting from the genre description lol, a lot more hardcore/punk but the jazzy moments were also very present and enjoyable.
The way the album goes into Latin Quarter
that was superb! Love the song too. The album really takes off from there onward. The drumming on Reanimator though
I Want to Live >>>>
Didn't really vibe with tracks 10 to 17 though only got back into the vibe around Punk China Doll. The rest of the album was very good though esp the last few tracks, so I'm guessing I might warm up to that section with time. The Bond theme
gotta love that.
Overall it's a great find! I can def relate this to most of what's happening rn so thank you.
