The thing I hate the most is that Al hit an experimental groove with Spitta on Covert Coup and NEVER return to it.

It’s been safe production ever since for 10 years now

Prodigy don’t flow the same tho imo. Alc was rappin as a kid in the 90s I really think that’s just his style fr

Maybe not the flow tbh but I always feel like modern alc is tryna imitate his tone somehow, idk

You kinda right about this. I still like their later collabs and honestly respect what Alc has been able to do, but yeah Covert Coup never being topped. A top 10 rap album ever for me

  • Only liked a couple of these. Expected more sadly

I always felt like old alc was supposed to sound like prodigy, and that new alc incorporated some roc sauce in there

Covert Coup might be his best production ever. 15 years old and it still sounds just as fresh as it did in 2011

I've been a fan since 2001/02 and it's definitely his best work. Currensy's too

Yacht Rock and Russian Roulette weren't experimental enough? Probably the most experimental s*** he ever did outside of the first two Gangrene albums tbh

Rare Chandeliers and No Idols came right after also.

I’m referring to Al and Spitta projects after Covert, i.e. Carrollton Heist, Fetti, Continuance

I feel like Alc was really just in that mode for those type of beats, he was in that bag for a lot of the collabs he did at that time .

I like this for what it was but it definitely wasn’t anything mind blowing. Cool listen while you puff a lil and get some cleaning in
