Mark Moschinono it’s not that neos code is causing glitches it’s just that they basically need all of the code of the matrix to be there so they can reboot the matrix thus extending the machines control over humanity. the idea is that matrix doesn’t just refer to the inside it refers to the outside as well. the architect telling neo he knows about the details around zion is fairly shocking. this scene shows that the matrix is not relegated to a program, but is actually an overarching system of cyclical control that the machines have trapped humanity in that includes zion and includes the human rebellion. the reveal is that all of this has been anticipated by the machines because it has happened before. the people of zion aren’t special hell neo isn’t special. neo went into this scene as the one and left it as a one. this completely recontextualizes the entire series

yeah he needs humanity to have hope to get the matrix to function. in the first of reloaded one of the elders talks about the machines that support their society. i always felt like, that was planned. the machines gave them those life support system, because if they make dissent a known element then they can anticipate and control it
