I mean its definitely divisive still ( I have peeked at those who have seen it in Japan and Thailand). If people go in expecting a serious action movie they will be disappointed. But the many of us that get its a meta, rom com about grief, nostalgia and sequels are in for a treat. Do I think Backlava would like this or those dead set on certain aspects they liked about the matrix? No. Can I be mad at them for it? No. But I dont really feel like Resurrections has in anyway shape or form marketed itself as 'just another matrix'

I be wondering if y’all actually were around for the OG trilogy cuz no Matrix movie has been 100% lived aside from the original.
Reloaded was mixed but praised for its action and Revolutions was trashed when it dropped.
This one is already getting higher praise

than Revolutions from what I’ve seenLike they really weren't around which is perfectly fine and nothing condescending about it but THE MATRIX RELOADED AND REVOLUTIONS REVIEWS ARE STILL UP UNALTERED. We saw what happened when the wachowskis continued exactly as they wanted even if rushed. Do both those movies have issues ? Yes but if you read those reviews of reloaded, revolutions , cloud atlas you will notice the reviewers dislikes are often entirely different from what we have discussed in this thread
They don't even like the movies questioning of existence, love and universe themes or string theory.
So when people say "I just liked the first one" I so often think they missed the point. If Wachowskis actually got their flowers (they still dont to this day) and other directors actually shouted them out for inspiring and being on their mood board. Many of you would get your 'dream matrix movie' but we wont because its very fair weather when it comes to wachowskis and sequels.
