Antagonists

When you have an antagonist, they should verbalize and directly challenge the nondiagetic hurdle your film has. If the Avengers has the hurdle of “can the Avengers work” amongst audiences, Loki expresses doubt on that and challenges the notion. If Titanic asks “can Jack and Rose (Romeo and Juliet) be together”, then characters should argue that they can’t, namely Rose’s fiancé and mother. Fletcher berates Andrew and challenges him as a potentially great drummer

And when this question is answered in the film, it is extremely satisfying to watch. You feel a victory for the good guys and a victory for yourself as an audience member

Tbh with first drafts I’m a fast writer if I have a pretty good idea in my head and discipline myself to write everyday. But all the hard work comes with the rewriting

^ I wholeheartedly believe this. Screenwriting is one of those mediums that if you work at it consistently you can make a career out of it.

I got some notes, outlines and dialogue for projects written down but have yet to write a full page this month. Been job hunting to pay bills. How's your writing coming along?

As yk im fathered by the David Lynch way so i typically just work with random ideas or images that pop into my head

Haven't written in forever and just started a new short film. Started laying out the basics for the theme, characters, and opening scene when I was struck with an even better idea
