Of course he'd say something like that out of respect or maybe because he's unaware of the quality of his early music but there's honestly no competition because 50 appealed to everyone. Em either appeals to Hip-Hop nerds that are focused on technical wordplay or white boys that identify with him.

I feel like Eminem and MF Doom fans overlap in some capacity, I feel like you can appreciate the lyricism and genuinely enjoy the music at the same time. My dad played Eminem all the time when I was a kid and he was pretty much a Tupac stan. Maybe this is why I don’t associate Eminem with white people.
Going to school in the hood, like the f***ing ghetto ghetto, niggas played Eminem all the time. Maybe it’s because I grew up in Indiana, who f***ing knows. I just don’t personally associate Eminem with being an exclusively white artist.

Probably so, that Dre co-sign did wonders for him. I was out of school by the time Recovery came out and I imagine niggas probably stopped messing with around that era. My best friend used to play Relapse 24/7 and he’s the furthest thing from white imaginable
