well my idea spawned when i was schizospamming all the music i was listening to last night
& i think we need to do a 90’s vs 2000’s r&b vz & there’s not many i trust besides you to properly get this done
k now what’s ur idea lol
Damn so close but yeah I was thinking we had to one of R&B and Soul. Let’s just pit the two best Decades against each other though. The 70’s vs the 90’s

yeah i knew it was something similar to that lol
i think this vz originally started out as like grunge vs pop punk I believe and then eventually it just became rock all together
and what separates R&B from soul? give me an example of a soul song from the 90’s real quick, i use the terms interchangeably
edit: i read your post wrong i believe, you’re just saying 70’s vs 90’s R&B my fault

I would be voting for every Grunge song, so I'm glad it morphed into this instead.
Idk, they're synonymous with each other but I think Soul is more rootsy and less Pop oriented with a slight Gospel leanings. I may be wrong, so don't quote me on that.
Idk if ktt f*** with the 70's but that's by far the best decade for R&B/Soul but 90's is the most popular.
i’m not as proficient in 70’s r&b tbh, of course i know all of the essentials but i don’t think i’d be able to get toooooo far into the deep cuts

this is one of my fav jams from that era

I'll be the one representing the 70's. You can have the advantage and go with the 90's.

in my head i’d consider this “soul”
what decade are you interested in repping? i’m also worried that people just aren’t gonna be so familiar with these songs.

That's a little jazzier than I was thinking but a beautiful song nonetheless. I was thinking of this for Soul

It's not, but it's equally as important, if not more.
I know we’re going through the usual 20 year reevaluation period with 2000s rock but 90s s***s on it so hard
2000-2004 had classics but after that sheesh
It's not, but it's equally as important, if not more.
Aw man are you about to son kiss???
Aw man are you about to son kiss???

I’d switch Nirvana with STP but it might just depend on the day.
Although I genuinely like Pearl Jam more than Nirvana, I feel like if the same thing would have happened to Eddie people would have placed them right next to each other.
“Dead rappers get better promotion” - Kiss

STP was the only band in Grunge that successfully experimented (Melvins don't count) and peaked outside of that genre. Pearl Jam damn near destroyed their momentum each time and purposely tried to turn away casual fans with Vitalogy and No Code. Nirvana was initially met with confusion and less than stellar sales. In Utero wasn't even outselling VS. prior to Kurt's suicide and it had massive promotion.
