Jay Electronica will aways hold a special place in my heart

why i love hip hop the most is because it's not constrained by the same boundaries as other genres. despite this you don't really see people pushing or exploring those genres successful (or if they successfully do, it's a little too far removed from the "essence" of hip hop / traditional hip hop)

but the first time I listened to Jay I thought "wow... this is unlike anything I've heard before". from his flow, to the words he used and how he rhymed them, combined with the movie samples, it blew my mind.

there have been others that rap on the same level as him (off the top of my head Lupe Fiasco, for example), but none have the mystique or aura that Jay have. when he raps, he sounds like a prophet or messiah.

anyway, i forgot bro existed and it's nice to finally have this stuff on streaming lol
