Legitimate question how do you get this offbeat but still onbeat swing if you know what I mean? I always do too cookie cutter of drums and I'll even not quantize but it still doesn't have this kinda bounce to it

thanks, I appreciate it.
You can have a one or two percussive elements that will act as the 'clock' for the listener and will generally be on beat (ie a hi hat, shaker), and the rest of the drums can be placed around it. That way the listener has something that anchors them to the rhythm and makes it sound consistent, while giving the other elements (kick, snare, percussion) room to breathe and do cool stuff.
having the kick and snare not always tied to beats 2 + 4 all the time helps, I structure my beats around 8 bars so I have lots of room to play with rhythms and still have the 8th bar resolve on beat.
also idk if you use a daw but i work on a hardware sampler and play the rhythms out using my fingers, I find everything sounds a lot looser and more organic that way.
hope that helps, apologies if it's not super clear.
very dope, loved full metal jacket + genesis.
these two i spent a lot of time over the past week here and there i think they r done, more trap drums
