I think music is kind of all about conditioning, and people didn't realize how much they were being conditioned to like / dislike something by labels and big media

Conditioning is why you gave new acts a chance, why you started liking new acts, etc.

With the death of monoculture, everyone exists in their own bubble and without conditioning, no one has to give new artists a chance. As a result, you get the "new artists" suck thing which was always a thing...but even more so now.

Like, Carter 1 and 2 are good rap albums for sure, but Lil Wayne is a top 10 rapper and his flagship albums just paleeee in comparison to like, Reasonable doubt, all eyez on me, Life After Death, Even Take Care and NWTS.

He gets massive credit for revitalizing Hip-Hop via jacking for beats, but the inability to create a longstanding, classic Hip-Hop album worthy of his status and talent, has to be held against him.

Its not even "being out of touch" cause I enjoy a lot of new music and artists. I just go back and listen to older music from before I was even born and the quality difference is insane.
