yeah the cost of living here is high, property prices are insane
when you mean "brown people" are you referring specifically to Hispanics which is what it seems to be used for in America

Melbourne isn't that bad because its a very multicultural city, personally half of my friends are from Asia/the Middle East and the other half mainly Italian, and my mums side of the family came here from Bosnia after the war in the 90s

but at the same time there is dogwhistle racist s*** that arises at specific times like the way certain news people talk about gangs, and microaggressions towards new groups of people who hadn't come to Australia in large numbers prior (in the 60s it was targeted at Europeans, in the 80s it was Vietnamese people, 90s it was Lebanese, but now they're all established in Australia so the news cycle moves onto different things)

the Australian culture in general is very much to joke about yourself so my friends from different places around the world are likely to poke fun at their own people and family as opposed to someone else doing it
