listen I'm a big fan of Borgli as a writer and director. I think his films are both provocative, sleek and pair well with his very norwegian sensibilities (no better way to put it). The Drama feels like a great idea that doesn't QUITE hit the mark for me. I understand the commentary but this may be one of the first films I've seen in a while where my own personal biases are getting in the way of my enjoyment. Believability is not always at the top of my list when it comes to watching a film. I know how watching a movie works but for some reason I just COULD NOT believe the characters in this film were acting the way that they were. It feels so utterly unrealistic in a way that's more frustrating and annoying than empathetic and endearing that perhaps I just could not suspend my disbelief. I think the acting is good. Zendaya is really quite good in this (idk why I'm always surprised at how well she performs) and I think she's been improving as an actress. Pattinson, who is frustrating as character to watch but really does have some good screen presence, is also good in this. I think the score is also good too (another Daniel Pemberton score!). Unfortunately, I think the film overstays its welcome and probably could have been a bit shorter.

The specific neurotic nature of all the characters just did not jive very well with me.

I believed Zendaya's character. Didn't really buy all the reactions to her. Movie gets increasingly convoluted as it goes on, and feels like it doesn't know how it should end.

that's what i meant. Zendaya's character is believable but the way everybody reacts to her, especially the LOVE OF HER LIFE is just like ... what?

like if this is the person that I love and want to spend the rest of my life with, my response to her confession would not be what Pattinson's is.

the characters in this film feel unnecessarily cruel and cold. i know that's part of Borgli's formula but for some reason it doesn't work here.

  • all the stuff with Mischa felt like draft material that was begging for a rewrite. Still, I liked this movie. I thought it was funny. I really like this Zendaya performance, it's naturalistic and vulnerable, really feel like we saw a new layer to her in this film.

The wedding photographer sequence was hilarious.

The wedding photographer sequence was hilarious.

    first we’ll shoot your parents

    then we’ll shoot your grandma

then we’ll shoot you both together!😃

I thought they were gonna cover more about why a school shooter feels compelled to take such a drastic step and the whole online aspect of it but they didn't (I know it's not a documentary but felt like it was headed that way), also the movie felt a bit rushed starting from coworker cheating subplot.

I know it's a super sensitive topic but there's like very little media (whether music or movies) about the topic considering how frequent they seem to be in America and how devastating they are

largely agree with this, really felt some of the inadequacies on the page in this one and the rest of the pieces trying to make up for those shortcomings.. still quite funny in spots for me

    Not an attack

    shock then empathy

ask for context surrounding that but I wouldn't fixate on it and to be honest with you and it wouldn't have bothered me even that bad considering who she is presently but maybe I was just blinded by Zendaya's beauty and sort of naiive, inexperienced disposition her character has. like she seems so sweet and kind and so unlike the people that surround her... particularly the maid of honor and best man.

AND I'm willing to admit that maybe it is a gender thing too. like her being a woman who felt what she felt is more digestible than if a man had confessed that.

Interesting, idk if I could have gone through with it. Knowing there was intent and overt acts to commit would probably push me away. I can only speak probabilistically, in the real life situation I may sway differently.

How do you feel about the pressures of the reveal in public and not just to you?

The social pressures that Emma feels you mean?

Because if so, I actually completely understand why she wasn’t forthcoming with this information about herself. I guess there’s a part of me that really understands how common it is amongst us as human beings to have these horribly intrusive thoughts and not act upon it. It’s an interesting thing. Obviously what Emma did was more than just a thought, there was premeditation there but still.

The pressures on Charlie I mean with it coming out in front of others. Not being able to “keep it in house” introduces a litany of pressures I think. I hope this doesn’t come off as an interrogative back and forth lol.

I think in general like I stated, I would be hesitant to marry. Probably would go through and then use that time to think. That’s if it was told to me in private. In a social setting, things would be different for me. Idk what I would do.

This was pretty good even knowing the twist didnt really matter all that much because it happens pretty early on

while it clearly seems like she changed as a person with age and learned from her mistakes, the circumstances behind the shooting does blur the lines. The only reason she didnt go thru with it was simply because another shooting happened before she did it. And it wasnt like she was a tragic bullied character, she mostly just thought it looked cool. I can see why learning this less than a month before marrying the love of your life who you really thought you knew would have you spiral out and questioning everything

  • SpiderMan

So KTT, would you marry Emma

If she looks like Zendaya she could’ve actually gone through with it for all I care idgaf
